Privacy Policy

Amarksoft Ltd  ·  Effective: May 2026  ·  Last updated: 29 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Amarksoft Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the PsyObjects website (psyobjects.com) and the PsyObjects Android application (together, the "Service").

We are the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at privacy.ams@amarksoft.com.

1. What PsyObjects Does

PsyObjects is a service that lets you associate feelings and emotions with images — without descriptions — so that you can later search for images that may evoke those feelings and emotions. The associations you create are called tags.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Data

When you register for an account we collect:

  • Your display name
  • Your email address
  • A hashed version of your password (we never store your password in plain text)

2.2 Usage Data

We record the number of tags you create. This is used solely to enforce the usage limits associated with your subscription plan. We do not build behavioural profiles or use this data for any other purpose.

2.3 Payment Data

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

3. Cookies

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

We use a session cookie (PHPSESSID) to keep you logged in while you use the website. This cookie is essential for the Service to function and does not require your consent.

3.2 Guest Usage Cookie

For visitors who are not registered or logged in, we set a cookie (po_guest_usage) to track the number of free tags and searches used within a given day. This cookie contains only a count and a date — no personal data. It expires at midnight UTC each day. The legal basis for this cookie is our legitimate interest in managing fair use of the Service.

3.3 Advertising Cookies

On free accounts, we display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may set cookies on your device to serve personalised or contextual ads. These cookies are subject to Google's privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.

You will be asked for your consent to advertising cookies when you first visit the website. You can withdraw consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.

Paid subscribers (PrO and PremiOm plans) are not shown advertisements and advertising cookies are not set for those accounts.

3.4 reCAPTCHA

Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which helps us detect automated submissions. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information and sends it to Google for analysis. This data is subject to Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy and terms of service at policies.google.com/terms. reCAPTCHA v3 operates invisibly in the background and does not require any action from you.

4. Images

Images displayed within the Service are sourced from Pexels (pexels.com) and are served directly from Pexels' servers. We do not store any images ourselves. When your browser or device loads an image, your IP address will be visible to Pexels. Pexels' privacy policy is available at pexels.com/privacy-policy.

5. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Verify your email address
  • Enforce the usage limits of your subscription plan
  • Calculate and display contributor badges based on your cumulative tag count
  • Process payments via Stripe
  • Respond to support or privacy enquiries

We do not sell your data, share it with third parties for marketing purposes, or use it for automated decision-making.

6. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)

  • Contract — processing your account data and usage data is necessary to provide the Service you have signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests — we have a legitimate interest in keeping the Service secure and functioning correctly.
  • Consent — advertising cookies are set only where you have given consent.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent (where consent is the legal basis)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy.ams@amarksoft.com. We will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

9. International Users

PsyObjects is operated by a UK-based company. The Service is hosted on servers located in the United States and potentially other countries operated by DreamHost, LLC. Your data may therefore be transferred to and processed outside the UK. Such transfers are made in accordance with UK GDPR requirements, relying on appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. DreamHost acts as a data processor on our behalf; their privacy policy is available at dreamhost.com/legal/privacy-policy.

The Service is not yet available to residents of Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, or Thailand. Users are required to confirm their country of residence during registration. By completing registration, you confirm that you are not a resident of any excluded country. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts where we have reason to believe this confirmation was inaccurate.

10. Children

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of the page. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
